Irish Compete In NCAA East Preliminary Round This Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The University of Notre Dame track and field teams will begin competition today in the NCAA East Preliminary Round held at the University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.

Twenty-seven students have qualified for the preliminary competition after a strong first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The student-athletes are aiming for top-12 finishes in their events in hopes of advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in two weeks.

The schedule of events kicks off this afternoon with the men’s javelin and women’s hammer throw at noon. Track events begin this evening with the men’s 400m hurdles at 4:30 and the women’s 400m hurdles at 5:00 p.m. Competition will run through 10 p.m. on Saturday (May 31).
