KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The second round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship was suspended Saturday due to inclement weather and unplayable conditions at the Cherokee Country Club.
Heavy rain prevented all 17 teams in the field, including the University of Notre Dame women’s golf team, from taking the course for a scheduled 8:30 a.m. (ET) start. Tournament officials were forced to suspend the round after conditions did not improve, shortening the event to 36 holes.
Tee times are slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday for the second and final round. Notre Dame’s Talia Campbell and Jordan Ferreira are each tied for 33rd place at two-over par (73), five strokes off the lead of Central Florida’s Fanny Cnops and South Carolina’s Katelyn Dambaugh (68, -3). The Irish are in a tie for 12th place after firing a first round 298 in the team competition, with the field chasing overnight leader South Carolina (279, -5).
