Voelz Finishes Fourth In Final Day Of NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Irish wrapped up their stay at the University of Arkansas with the final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday. Notre Dame took home three First Team All-America honors and one Second Team All-America honor to conclude a successful weekend.

Samuel Voelz highlighted the final day with a fourth place finish in the 800m final, finishing with a time of 1:47.62 to become a First Team All-American. The time is not only a personal record but also the second fastest time recorded in Notre Dame program history, just .12 seconds shy of the top time.

Olivia Markezich closed out the championship weekend for the Irish with the 3,000m run. The sophomore finished 13th with a time of 9:21.74 to earn Second Team All-America status.

The Irish are now done with the indoor portion of the track and field schedule but the men’s distance runners are set to compete in the NCAA Cross Country National Championships at 12:30 p.m. ET on Monday, March 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The race will air live on ESPNU.
