NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Success both on and off the ice are expected at Notre Dame and 10 Irish hockey players added feathers to their caps on Wednesday by earning spots on the Hockey East All-Academic Team.
Notre Dame’s Joe Aiken, Tony Bretzman, Steven Fogarty, Eric Johnson, Chad Katunar, Cal Petersen, Luke Ripley, Andy Ryan, Peter Schneider and Nick Stasack were among the 133 student-athletes recognized by the league on Wednesday.
To earn a spot on the team, student-athletes must earn at least a 3.0 grade point average in each of the two academic periods during which they were actively competing.
All but recent graduates Johnson and 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-American Schneider will return for a 2015-16 season which begins on Oct. 9 with an exhibition against Guelph at the Compton Family Ice Arena.
