NOTRE DAME, Ind. — After shattering her own school record in the weight throw to open the 2019-20 indoor track & field season, University of Notre Dame junior thrower Rachel Tanczos has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Performer of the Week.
Tanczos’ throw of 22.10m shattered the previous Notre Dame record she set at last season’s ACC Championships (21.08m), where she won the conference title. The mark currently sits as the second-best weight throw in the early part of the season and would have gone for an NCAA-qualifying toss a season ago.
The Irish will return to competition in 2020 when members of the team will compete at the GVSU Bill Clinger Invitational in Allendale, Michigan, on January 17.
