AS A SOPHOMORE: Set a career best in the first meet of the track season, vaulting 3.80m (12-5 1/2) at the Blue and Gold Invitational … won the vault competition at the Notre Dame Opener, going 3.70m (12-1 1/2) … earned her first career all-BIG EAST honors at the conference indoor meet, placing third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.60m (11-9 3/4) … did not compete during the 2007 outdoor track and field season … will look to garner more BIG EAST honors in the 2008 campaign.

AS A FRESHMAN: A very solid contributor to the Irish pole vault crew in her first season in an Irish uniform … established a strong mark of 3.65m (11-11 3/4) early in the indoor season at the Notre Dame Opener … qualified for the BIG EAST Indoor Championship in the vault, eventually finishing 11th with a mark of 3.45m (11-3 3/4) … came out strong in the outdoor campaign, posting an outstanding 3.66m (12-0) vault at the Cal Poly Invitational to win the meet … also won the pole vault competition at the Notre Dame Outdoor Opener … took second behind teammate Mary Saxer with a mark of 3.50m (11-5 3/4) at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational … jumped 3.65m to win the Indy Relays pole vault … also took the title at the Central Collegiate Championship (3.50m, 11-5 3/4) … continued her consistent outdoor season in the BIG EAST meet, placing eighth overall in the vault with a mark of 3.65m … looks to keep improving on a promising freshman year during the 2006-07 season.

HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL: Four-year letterwinner as pole vault standout at Rancho Bernardo High School … earned All-American honors in the pole vault at the USATF Junior National meet (fourth place) … achieved a national ranking in the pole vault each of the last three years … two-time California all-state selection with a third-place finish in 2004 and a fifth-place performance in 2005 … San Diego CIF Section record holder … pole vaulted at several prestigious meets during her senior season, including the Arcadia Invitational (first), Mount SAC Relays (first), and Golden West Invitational (fourth) … three-time conference and regional champion … undefeated in San Diego County in her junior and senior years … personal-best mark of 3.89m (12-9) … Rancho Bernardo[apos]s Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior … member of National Honor Society, concert band, and Royal Regiment marching band … born July 16, 1987 in Los Gatos, Calif. … daughter of Renee and Terry Mattoon … older of two children … father, Terry, wrestled at Fort Lewis College … enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters … earned Dean[apos]s List status in spring 2006 semester after posting 3.667 grade-point average.
