Season Opens On Saturday With The Irish Classic

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame cross country programs will kick off the 2020 season with the Irish Classic, a dual meet against Louisville, at the Burke Golf Course. The race will be the first of three for the Irish in the shortened 2020 schedule.

“We are all looking forward to competing again. It has been a long 6 months since our last meet,” Hatherly-Piane Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Matt Sparks said.

“Saturday will be like no other cross country meet our athletes have experienced. It will be a dual meet with us and Louisville with no spectators. Traditionally our home meets have over 50 teams competing and well over 1000 people on the course. The smaller field does not diminish the energy our athletes have to race again.”
