Popejoy Earns All-District Academic Honor

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame track and cross-country senior Michael Popejoy earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-Disctrict V team on Thursday. Popejoy (Wheaton Warrenville South/Wheaton, Ill.) graduated in May with a degree in philosophy while carrying a 3.85 overall grade point average.

During the indoor season, Popejoy experienced best times in the 3,000m (8:38.92) and 5,000m (14:55.99), which ranked among the fastest on the team. He recorded a season-best 14:56.74 in the outdoor 5,000m at the Eastern Michigan Invitational (April 19) and finished second at the Purdue Invite (April 5) with a time of 32:08.07 in the 10,000m.

Popejoy also helped Notre Dame claim the BIG EAST Conference outdoor title for the fourth time in six years. The Irish have won either an indoor or outdoor title in each of his four seasons with the squad.
