Nov. 18, 2002

The University of Notre Dame cross country program received a bit of good news on Monday, Nov. 18. Both Irish teams will represent the University at the 2002 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Nov. 25. The Irish women knew they were in the field, as they won their first Great Lakes Regional title on Saturday, Nov. 16, to earn an automatic berth in the national meet.

The men, who compete in the top cross country conference in the nation and dueled with several ranked teams at the Great Lakes Regional, were selected as an at-large team. Notre Dame’s men’s team won the National Catholic meet and finished fourth at the BIG EAST Championship this season.

Notre Dame women’s head coach Tim Connelly will be featured in a pre-meet press conference on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 1:00 p.m.

The 2002 BIG EAST coach of the year, Connelly will share the podium with four women’s coaches at 1:27 p.m. Patrick Shane (BYU), Vin Lananna (Stanford) and Mark Wetmore (Colorado) will also be part of the women’s coaches portion of the press conference.
