NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame track and field senior multi-events specialist Justin Schneider (Atlanta, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian) was named BIG EAST Male Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
Schneider earned the honor after winning all of the heptathlon events except the 60-meter hurdles, which he placed second, at the Bob Eubanks Open. The senior totaled 5,497 points to break his school record of 5,339 points. That accomplishment made him the No. 1 ranked multi-events student-athlete in the nation according to tffrs.org.
Schneider was one of four student-athletes to grab BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field weekly honors. Villanova’s Sheila Reid amd Samuel Ellison were the Track Athletes of the Week, while Victoria Flowers of Connecticut was selected as the Female Athlete of the Week.
The Irish continue their indoor season this Saturday with the Notre Dame Invitational inside the Loftus Sports Center in Notre Dame, Ind. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. (ET), with running events beginning at noon.
