Irish Varsity Four Boat Tabbed BIG EAST Boat Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame rowing team earned its third honor of the season as the varsity four boat won BIG EAST Boat of the Week honors for the second straight week, it was announced by the league Wednesday. It is the third boat-of-the-week honor for the Irish this season.

The four boat, coxed by Danni Schneider and crewed by Joanna Poinsatte, Kelsey Sekanick, Stella Willoughby and Katie Suyo, posted a perfect 2-0 weekend at the Stanford Women’s Invitational this past Saturday (April 21) at Redwood Shores, Calif.

In the morning session, the Irish boat took to the water against fifth-ranked USC, claiming the heat victory in 7:17.84. The Trojans crossed 2.67 seconds behind Notre Dame at 7:20.51. The Irish crew returned in the afternoon to take on 11th-ranked Stanford. Notre Dame pulled away for a victory by open water, finishing in 7:28.10 with the Cardinal crossing at 7:42.90.
