Irish T-9th Heading Into Final Round In Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Notre Dame men’s golf squad entered the Stillwater, Oklahoma, regional (at the Karsten Creek Golf Club) as the No. 5 seed, marking its first postseason team appearance since 2012. Due to inclement weather forecasted for Tuesday, the regional hosts decided to play 36 holes on Monday. 

After two rounds, the Irish found themselves tied for ninth place at 19-over-par. The fifth-place team Northwestern sits at three-over-par. 

Individually, senior Davis Chatfield continues to excel. He leads all Irish players at one-over-par, good for 19th place. Junior Taichi Kho follows right behind at two-over-par in 24th place, while sophomore Palmer Jackson occupies 30th place at three-over-par.  

1st Round
Kho posted the best first-round score with a 73 (+1). He was followed close behind by both Palmer Jackson and Davis Chatfield, who each posted a 74 (+2). Meanwhile, Tucker Clark tallied an 80 (+8), while Andrew O’Leary carded an 82 (+10).

2nd Round
Chatfield was the lone Irish player to go under-par in the afternoon second round session. The senior carded a 71 (-1), posting three birdies overall on the round. As a result, he jumped 11 spots in the standings. 

Both Jackson and Kho recorded a 73 (+1). Kho had an up-and-down round which consisted of four birdies and an eagle, but a triple-bogey on hole eight which spoiled the round. 

Lastly, O’Leary carded a 77 (+5), while Clark posted a 78 (+6).
