Irish Set for Augusta Haskins Awards Invitational

Loaded field at Forest Hills Golf Club, April 3-4

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Competing in what will be their fourth tournament of the spring season, the Notre Dame men’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the Augusta Haskins Awards Invitational. Augusta State hosts a loaded 15-team event held at the Forest Hills Golf Club. 

Two rounds will be played on Saturday, April 3, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. EST. Sunday’s final round will begin around 8:15 a.m. and will also be streamed online.

THE FIELD

The 15-team field consists of six teams ranked in Golfweek’s top-25 and four inside the top 10. The full field is listed below: 

Augusta, No. 16 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 4 Illinois, No. 23 South Carolina, UCF, No. 10 Arizona, No. 26 South Florida, Virginia Tech, College of Charleston, Kennesaw State, Army, Georgia State and No. 39 Notre Dame. 

THE CLUBHOUSE

The Irish head into their fourth tournament of the spring season with momentum. Each tournament they have improved their team score: 867 (+3) at Seminole, 857 (-7) at Timuquana and an 852 (-12) at Spartan Collegiate. Thus, Notre Dame is coming off a second-place showing at Spartan, where they were one stroke shy of a first-place tie. 

Notre Dame will roll with the same starting five lineup this weekend, which includes Andrew O’Leary, who posted a career best fourth-place showing at Spartan. The junior carded a 211 (-5), which lowered his round average to 72.11 – the lowest on the squad right now. 

In fact, the rest of the lineup all currently possess averages below 73: Davis Chatfield (72.33), Tucker Clark (72.33), Palmer Jackson (72.56) and Taichi Kho (72.67).

In addition, Patrick Kelly and Angelo Marcon will be competing as individuals.
