NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame rowing team returns to the water at 8:00 a.m. (ET) on Sunday (May 1) on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J., in search of its eighth consecutive BIG EAST Title. The seven consecutive titles is the longest active streak in the conference.
Races are tentatively scheduled to commence with eight preliminary heats in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and third varsity eight races at 8:00 a.m. Race finals will follow at approximately 10:50 a.m., beginning with the third varsity four final, which will not be counted toward the final team standings.
Last season, the Irish extended their conference win streak to seven after defeating Georgetown by 28 points. Notre Dame also posted its third highest point total at the event, securing 121 total points. The Hoyas finished with 93 points while third place Syracuse finished with 84.
The Irish will take to the water as the overall No. 1 seeded boat in the second varsity eight and second varsity four races. Louisville enters as the favorite in the varsity eight and varsity four races.
Notre Dame comes into this year’s tournament ranked 20th in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)/USRowing team rankings and also have the third-ranked varsity eight crew in the Central Region.
