Irish In Third After First Day At NCAA Regional

The University of Notre Dame men’s golf team posted a solid 292 (+4) in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Regional in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on the PGA National Champion Course to stay in contention to advance to the NCAA Championship.

The Irish were led by a scintillating 68 from senior Taichi Kho, matching two other golfers for the best round of the day. The Hong Kong, China, native posted three birdies on the front nine, then another three on the back to finish four-under par on the day. The 68 is the lowest round for an Irish golfer in NCAA play since Niall Platt posted a first-round 68 in 2011 at the Golden Ocala Golf Course in Ocala, Florida. The score is tied for the third-best in program history for an Irish golfer in NCAA play.
