Irish in Ninth Place After Round One of Dorado Beach Classic

Kho in 15th place at two-under par

DORADO, Puerto Rico – A beautiful sunny day in Puerto Rico marked day one of the spring season for the Notre Dame men’s golf at the Dorado Beach Classic on Sunday. The Fighting Irish got off to hot start, jumping into first place after six holes, but ultimately finished in a tie for ninth at two-over par.

Davis Lamb led the starting five with a 71 (-1), good for 26th place. However, individual competitor Taichi Kho notched the best Irish showing in 15th place with a 70 (-2).

Lamb notched four birdies on the day, including back-to-back on holes 13 and 14. Davis Chatfield’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 12th, but spoiled by a triple-bogey on the par-three fourth – ultimately finishing in 33rd at even-par.

Andrew O’Leary played a mostly clean and consistent round with 14 pars, entering the clubhouse in 48th at one-over. Furthermore, both Palmer Jackson and Hunter Ostrom tied for 58th at two-over. Like Chatfield, Jackson also tallied an eagle, but on the par-five ninth.

Individually, Kho produced a solid back-nine where he shot three-under, recording three birdies on a four-hole stretch. Kho sits five strokes back from co-leaders, John Murphy of Louisville and Ben Sigel of Kansas.

Other Irish scores include: John Felitto (+4), Alex Jamieson (+5) and Patrick Kelly (E), as the latter tallied a total of five birdies on the day.
