Irish Have Strong Showing at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of Notre Dame track and field team traveled to the Raleigh Relays at N.C. State. The Irish were represented by all event groups outside of throwing.

On the women’s side of competition, Kendall Burgess ran in the 100m and took a time of 12.47s. Teammate Eve Balseiro took fourth in the 400m run when she crossed the finish line at 54.79. Alaina Brady and Madison Schmidt represented the Irish in the 200m with a time of 25.53 and 26.11, respectively. 

Erin Sullivan took on the women’s 1500m race where she clocked in at 4:26.67. Teammates Kaitlin Ryan, Sophie Novak, Meghan Scott, Megan Hughes, and Molly Grant were also in the 1500m when they crossed the finish line at 4:29.91, 4:30.68, 4:34.68, 4:36.32, and 4:41.81 respectively. Charlotte Turreson represented Notre Dame with a time of 17:22.90 in the 5000m. Katie Rose Blachowicz took on the 10000m when she crossed the finish line at 34:04.78. Jacqueline Gaughan also ran in the 10000m clocking in at 34:12.28. 

In the 100m hurdles, Brady clocked in at 13.93 taking 13th place. Brady also competed in the long jump with teammate Burgess. They both hit marks of 5.67m and 5.57m, respectively. Madeleine King was the sole Notre Dame competitor in the 3000m steeplechase and ran for a time of 10:29.73. The high jump saw Madison Schmidt hit a mark of 1.65m for 10th place. Olivia Fabry took on pole vaulting for the Irish and hit a mark of 3.60m. 

The men’s team had Andrew Alexander run in the 10000m and set a new school record with a time of 28:24.42. Paul Baynes represented Notre Dame in the 100m where he clocked in at 11.24. In the 200m, Theo Chambers crossed the finish line at 21.18 and Baynes ran for a time of 22.57. Luis Cossio ran in the 400m for a time of 49.86. In the 1500m, the Irish were represented by Jake Renfree, Jackson Storey, and Parker Jones who finished with times of 3:44.18, 3:48.05, and 3:50.46, respectively.

Theo Phipps ran in the 110m hurdles and clocked in at 15:06. Max Frye took on the 400m hurdles and ran for a time of 52.33. In the men’s 3000m steeplechase, Quinn Gallagher crossed the finish line at 8:55.12 and Zach Kreft finished at 9:14.22.
