Irish Compete In Day One Of The Indiana Relays

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Members of the University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Bloomington, Ind., for the Indiana University Relays this weekend.

The Irish had eight top-five finishes on day one of the event and will continue competing today.

Women

600 Meter: Kaileen Healy finished fourth in her section with a time of 1:38.82.

Mile: McKinzie Schulz finished fifth in her section with a time of 5:02.58. In her section, Molly Seidel finished ninth with a time of 4:57.46.

3000 M: Karen Lesiewicz finished third with a time of 10:14.64. Taylor Driscoll finished 11th in her own section with a time of 10:12.61.

60 M Hurdles: Madlen Karnatz finished second in her preliminary heat with a time of 9.22. In the fourth preliminary heat, Meghan Moore finished fifth with a time of 9.05 and Laura Wendelberger finished eighth with a time of 10.20.

High Jump: In the first flight, Fiona Paladino finished in a tie for 13th place with a distance of 1.55m.

Pole Vault: Libby Schichtel placed 12th in flight one with a jump of 3.45m.

Men

Mile: Walter Schafer came in ninth in the first section with a time of 4:17.49.

3000 M Run: Patrick Lesiewicz finished third in his section with a time of 8:25.79. In the second section, Scott Milling finished 11th with a time of 8:53.63.

Long Jump: Carson Barnes finished third for Notre Dame with a jump of 6.61m while Brent Swanberg finished in sixth at a distance of 6.22m.

Weight Throw: Nick Hauser came in second in his flight with a throw of 15.28m.
