NORMAN, Okla.
— On day two of the 2017 Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club (par 71/6,046 yards), Notre Dame women’s golfer Maddie Rose Hamilton etched her name in the Irish record book by firing a program-best round of 65 (-6).

As a team, Notre Dame carded a second round 282 (-2) to vault into a tie for sixth with Florida State with one round remaining (Notre Dame: 294-282-576). The 282 was the second lowest team score of the day, one shot behind Alabama (281-281-562), who is in first place.

Playing with Oklahoma and Clemson, the Notre Dame tee times for Monday’s third and final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. (ET). Fox Sports Southwest and Fox College Sports Pacific will air live final round coverage beginning at 2:00 p.m. (ET).

LEADING THE NOTRE DAME LINEUP

In addition to Hamilton’s record setting round of 65, her classmate Isabella DiLisio shot a 67 as the duo combined for a 10-under par total on the day.

Hamilton’s 65 included an eagle, six birdies, eight pars and two bogeys. On the 18th (her ninth hole of the day) she hit a three wood to within three feet and sank the eagle putt. DiLisio also eagled the 18th and added five birdies en route to her 67.

Freshman Abby Heck (73) and junior Emma Albrecht (77) also scored for the Irish.

STAT OF THE DAY

Hamilton’s -6 also tied for the lowest round in program history in relation to par. Previously, So-Hyun Park (2008-09) and Lisa Maunu (2007-08) also carded six-under par scores, both of which were 66’s on par 72 courses.

NOTES OF THE TOURNAMENT

  • Notre Dame’s second round 282 tied for the fifth-lowest aggregate score in the Irish women’s golf records book.
  • Maddie Rose Hamilton set the program record by shooting a second round 65 (-6).
  • Emma Albrecht shot a first round 67 (-4), marking her career-best round. That round is now tied for the sixth-lowest in program history.
  • Isabella DiLisio’s second round 67 (-4) was her ninth career round in the 60’s and also is tied for the sixth-lowest in program history.

UP NEXT

After the Schooner Fall Classic, Notre Dame will travel to Lexington, Kentucky to compete in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, hosted by the University of Kentucky. The Irish have not competed in the event since 2009, when they finished third.
