NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2016 preseason women’s soccer coaches poll and All-ACC Team on Thursday, with the University of Notre Dame women’s soccer team pegged to come in sixth in the 14-team league.

The poll largely mirrors the preseason rankings released Tuesday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, where the Irish came in ranked at No. 13. Three-time reigning ACC Champion and preseason No. 1 Florida State was picked to finish atop league, followed by Virginia (No. 4), Duke (No. 3), North Carolina (No. 9), Clemson (No. 14), Notre Dame and Virginia Tech (No. 17).

The ACC boasts the most teams within the NSCAA preseason rankings. Notre Dame’s inclusion on the list marks the 280th week in the polls for the Irish.

The Irish opened preseason camp on Wednesday and will continue two-a-day training sessions through next week. They get their first look at the playing field on Tuesday when they welcome Northwestern (RV) for an exhibition contest at 3 p.m. ET at Alumni Stadium. Admission for the exhibition match is free.
