CHICAGO – The U.S. Under-20 Women’s Youth National Team will travel to Bogotá, Colombia for a training camp from Feb. 18-28 that will feature two matches against the Colombia U-20 WNT, the hosts of the 2024 Under-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup. U.S. head coach Tracey Kevins has named 20 players to the roster, 12 of which play in college. With that said, Notre Dame’s own Leah Klenke will once again don the Stars & Stripes.
The USA will face Colombia twice in Bogotá during the trip, on Sunday, Feb. 25 at Estadio El Campín, the main soccer stadium in Colombia’s capital, and on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at Estadio de Techo, a smaller venue. The event will serve as excellent preparation for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will take place from August 31 to September 22, 2024 and will feature players born on or after Jan. 1, 2004.
And what a year it was for Leah Klenke, who was an absolute sparkplug for the Notre Dame offense. Klenke led the team with 10 assists, which ranked 18th nationally and 4th in the ACC. Her 0.5 assists per game ranked 18th and 4th as well, respectfully.
Get this, Klenke registered points in 10 of the last 16 matches. The sophomore had seven assists in conference play. Lastly, Klenke posted a career-best 14 points on the season.
