The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that Notre Dame freshman right wing Billy Maday (Burr Ridge, Ill.) has been selected as the CCHA rookie of the month for November.

Maday scored 11 points during the month, getting seven goals with four assists to help the Irish to a 7-0-2 mark during November. Of his seven goals, five came on the power play. He took 36 shots on goal in the nine games and finished the month with a +4 rating.

The former Waterloo Black Hawk (USHL) scored at least one point in eight of the nine games in November, notching goals in seven of them. The 19-year old forward had three multi-point games, including back-to-back two-point nights on Nov. 22 at Bowling Green and Nov. 28 versus Western Michigan.

A key member of the Notre Dame power-play unit, Maday has been instrumental in the recent success of the Irish power play that has gone 16-for-34 (47.1%) over the last five games.

Maday is currently third on the team in scoring with nine goals and five assists for 14 points. His nine goals are tied for the team lead with Christian Hanson (Sr., Venetia, Pa.) and his five power-play goals tie him with Calle Ridderwall (So., Stockholm, Sweden) in that department. He currently has a five-game goal-scoring streak that started on Nov. 15 versus Lake Superior State. The Irish freshman is the top-scoring rookie in the CCHA and is second on the national level.

Maday and his Notre Dame teammates are currently 10-3-2 overall on the season and are ranked No. 1 in the nation in both the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports polls. The Irish are 6-2-2-2 in the CCHA, good for 16 points and second place in the conference, three points behind first-place Miami with two games in hand.

Notre Dame returns to action this weekend when the Irish travel to Big Rapids, Mich., to face the Ferris State Bulldogs on Dec. 5-6. Game time both nights is 7:05 p.m.
