Archibeck Wins The 5,000m At The Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – A pair of Irish earned victories in day one of the Drake Relays on Thursday, including Erin Archibeck in the 5,000m and Jocelyn Long in the unseeded 1,500m race.

Archibeck’s time of 16:12.92 in the 5,000m was the eighth fastest in program history, earning her the victory. Long crossed the line in 4:23.60 in the unseeded 1,500m race, which was the 10th fastest time in program history. Both of those finishes were personal bests for both athletes.

Archibeck wasn’t the only one to turn in an impressive performance in the women’s 5,000m, as teammates Maddy Denner (16:16.40) and Katie Rose Blachowicz (PR: 16:19.21) finished second and third, respectively.

Erin Sullivan had a notable finish in the 800m, setting a personal record time of 2:08.85 to earn a second place finish.

On the men’s side Matt Frazier turned in a solid effort, finishing fifth in the 1,500m with a time of 3:49.44.

Notre Dame returns to the track for day two of the Drake Relays on Friday and also a portion of the team will compete in the first day of the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville.
