Zach Brenneman And Kevin Ridgway Named LaxPower All-Americans

May 19, 2011

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame seniors Zach Brenneman (M) and Kevin Ridgway (D) have earned All-America honors from LaxPower.com. The web site selected 17 players to fill out its Division I All-America squad.

Brenneman (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) has tallied 16 goals and five assists this season. He missed two games due to injury, yet still has a team-best two hat tricks. The three-goal efforts came against Duke and Syracuse. Brenneman, a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee, copped first-team all-BIG EAST accolades last week. The senior midfielder was selected fifth overall by the Long Island Lizards in January’s Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Draft.

Ridgway (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Prep) has been a key cog in an Irish defense that ranks first nationally by allowing just 6.54 goals per game. Notre Dame has limited opponents to seven goals or fewer nine times this season. Ridgway was a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee and a first-team all-BIG EAST selection. The Hamilton Nationals picked the defenseman in the third round of the MLL Draft.

No. 4 seed Notre Dame (11-2) will face fifth-seeded Duke (13-5) on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship. Game time is slated for 2:30 p.m. (ET) inside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU and ESPN3.com
