Women's ITA All-American Championships Update

Sept. 28, 2014

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – University of Notre Dame sophomore women’s tennis standout Monica Robinson posted a 1-1 record in the pre-qualifying round of the 2014 Riviera / Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships Saturday.

Robinson, who turned in an impressive 17-7 dual record in singles as a freshman, defeated Columbia’s Tin Jiang, 6-4, 6-2, in Saturday’s morning session, before losing a close match to Texas Tech’s Kenna Kilgo, 6-3, 6-4, in the second match.

The loss ends Robinson’s singles experience at this year’s ITA All-American Championships, but the Valley Center, California native is just getting started, as she will pair with teammate Quinn Gleason in the qualifying doubles portion of the tournament starting Tuesday.

In addition, Gleason will also begin the qualifying singles portion of the tournament Tuesday.
