The four-day NCAA Combined Fencing Championships continues on Saturday, with the women taking to the strips for 14 bouts each in the round-robin format. MADISON, N.J. – The four-day NCAA Combined Fencing Championships continues on Saturday, with the women taking to the strips for 14 bouts each in the round-robin format. Five Notre Dame women’s fencers will be competing (out of a maximum six), with two each in sabre and foil and one in epee. The Irish enter the day in third place, four point behind Penn State and eight back of Columbia.

Here’s a look at who the Irish will be fencing on Saturday, with top bouts of note vs. teams from the other contenders (Columbia, PSU, Ohio State, St. John’s and Harvard), plus others as noted below:

Kelley Hurley (epee; fr.; San Antonio, TX) – round-1 vs. Northwestern’s Christa and Kayley French, Columbia’s Tess Finkel and Alexie Rubin, and Yale’s Rebecca Moss … round-2 vs. OSU’s Leslie Lampman and and Alexandra Obrazcova, plus Air Force’s Eliza Enyart (an NCAA veteran) … round-3 vs. Harvard’s Maria Larsson and Jasmine McGlade, plus Caitlin Kozel of Brandeis … round-4 vs. Wayne State All-Americans Anna Garina (two-time NCAA champ, ’06 runner-up) and Justyna Konczalska, plus Duke’s Anne Kercsmar (’04 semifinalist).
