Some of the country’s top women’s volleyball teams will be among the field for the Shamrock Invitational this weekend on the campus of Notre Dame at the Joyce Center Arena.

Along with the 16th-ranked Irish, 12th-ranked Colorado and 30th-ranked Georgia travel to Notre Dame for two matches apiece. The first game, Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, pits Notre Dame against Georgia at 8 p.m. The second game, Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998 at 5 p.m., features Colorado and Georgia, while the final game, Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m., showcases the talents of Notre Dame and Colorado.

The Irish enter this weekend’s action with a 1-0 record, having defeated Valparaiso on Tuesday in three-straight games. Georgia (1-1) has played games against Clemson (a five-game loss) and against Southwest Missouri State (a three-game win), while Colorado has yet to play a game in 1998.

The field for the fifth Shamrock Invitational mirrors the teams at last year’s Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo., which the Buffaloes won by beating Notre Dame in three game. Wisconsin was last year’s Shamrock Invitational champion, defeating Notre Dame in four games.
