NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s volleyball team ended its home season on a high note with a 15-5, 15-10, 15-9 non-conference win over Toledo before more than 630 people at the Joyce Center Arena.

The Irish were led by outside hitter Christi Girton (Munice, Ind.), who had 18 kills and 10 digs for her eighth double-double this season and her seventh in the last eight games. Sophomore Jo Jameyson (Alvin, Texas) also had 10 kills, while senior Lindsay Treadwell (Austin, Texas), playing in her last home match of her career, had six kills on 18 attempts with no errors. The Irish outpowered the Rockets at the net with a 13-1 total block advantage, including six assists by middle blocker Mary Leffers (Tampa, Fla.).

The Rockets were never able to catch up to the Irish, hitting .124 to Notre Dame’s .345 average. Rocket Cori Begle had 11 kills and outside hitter Aziza Hill added 10.

With the win, the Irish moved to 14-12 overall, 9-2 in the BIG EAST, while Toledo fell to 3-26 overall, 1-16 in the Mid-American Conference.

Notre Dame travels to Pittsburgh this Friday for the BIG EAST Tournament. The Irish enter the championships as the third seed and will play host Pittsburgh at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21. The winner of the BIG EAST Tournament receives an automatic bid to the 64-team NCAA Tournament.
