Oct. 26, 2000

The University of Notre Dame women’s swimming team (1-0) was ranked 18th in the Speedo America pre-season poll released today.

The Irish are coming off one of the best seasons in school history. Seventeen monogram winners return from the 1999-2000 team that finished 18th at the 2000 NCAA championship. Notre Dame also scored a record number of points, 829.5, at the 2000 BIG EAST championship and swept through its dual meet season with a 10-0 record.

Fans can catch the 18th-ranked Fighting Irish tomorrow, Oct. 27, at 3:30 p.m., in a dual meet with BIG EAST conference member Miami (Fla.). The Hurricanes are ranked 17th in the pre-season poll and are among the three teams the Irish will face in dual meet competition during the 2000-01 campaign. Notre Dame will travel to #14 Northwestern and host #9 Michigan this season as well.
