The Notre Dame Women’s Swimming and Diving team has announced its 2000-2001 schedule. The defending BIG EAST champions will have their three traditional home meets, the Notre Dame Relays, the Notre Dame Invitational, and the Shamrock Classic, while adding new meets in Bloomington, Ind., and the Rainbow Invitational at the University of Hawaii.

“We are anxious for the Indiana Invitational,” head coach Bailey Weathers said of the 2000-2001 slate. “It gives us a good opportunity to compete against some different Big Ten teams.”

The Irish will also feature dual meets with Northwestern and Michigan in January while also traveling to West Lafayette, Ind. and Oxford, Ohio.

“Northwestern and Michigan are both top teams that we are excited to match-up with,” Weathers said.

The BIG EAST Championships will take place in the Goodwill Games Pool in Long Island, N.Y., the week of February 15-17. The Irish will get a chance to swim at the same site as the NCAA Championships (March 15-17.)

“We are also looking forward to the changes at the BIG EAST meet this year,” Weathers said. “The meet has been restructured to make it more competitive and that should benefit all the athletes involved.”

The 2000-2001 season begins for the Irish October 6, when the Rolfs Aquatic Center plays host to the Notre Dame Relays.
