Women's Golf Finishes Second Round At The Mercedes-Benz Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team posted a 293 (+5) in the second round of the Mercedes-Benz Championship, moving them into a tie with Kent State for fifth place (588/+12) at the Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Leading the Irish are senior So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton (Fla.) Preparatory Academy) and freshman Nicole Zhang (Calgary, Alberta/ Bishop Carroll) each posting a 71 (-1) on the second day of the three-day tournament.

Tennessee remains in the lead, carding a 284 (-4) today for a 564 (-12) total, followed by Texas Christian University at 584 (+8). In a tie for third is Arkansas and Mississippi (586/+10).

Park and Zhang are tied for ninth place after two rounds. Next for the Irish is junior Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton) who is currently tied for 42nd, posting a 76 (+4), followed by Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) in tie for 46th. The freshman bested her first round score of 78 (+6) by three strokes, 75 (+3) totaling a 153 (+9). Senior Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y/Shoreham-Wading River) rounded out the Irish score with an 81 (+9) and sits in a 56th place tie. Competing as an individual for the Irish is Katie Allare (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier Prep) who is tied for 65th after two rounds. Allare had an 18-hole total of 81 (+9), 158 (+14) through two rounds.
