Wetzel Named To National Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar Team

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown), a rising sophomore on the Notre Dame women’s golf team, has been named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-Scholar Team for the 2006-07 campaign. Wetzel earned a team-best 3.933 GPA during the season.

Wetzel played in all 10 team events during her freshman season. She posted a 78.82 stroke average in 28 rounds of play. Her top finish came at the Lady Irish Invitational where she tied for 11th with a 16-over par 232, which was her top 54-hole total of the season.

The Notre Dame women’s golf program has placed a student-athlete on the NGCA All-Scholar Team in six of the past seven seasons. To qualify for the NGCA All-Scholar Team at the NCAA Division I level, a student-athlete needs to possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and they must have competed in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year. There were a total of 368 women’s collegiate golfers, spanning Division I, II and III, recognized with this honor for the 2006-07 campaign.
