COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Basketball announced today the participants for the 2022 USA Basketball Women’s 3×3 U23 National Team trials in Miami from Aug. 5-8 and Notre Dame junior forward Maddy Westbeld was 1-of-11 invitees. Following the completion of trials, the roster will be named before training camp commences Aug. 9-11. The team is slated to compete in the fifth edition of the FIBA 3×3 Nations League, starting play within the Americas conference in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, from Aug. 13-19.
The women’s national team training camp features 11 invitees who bring a combination of USA Basketball (five-on-five and 3×3) and collegiate basketball experience. Joining Westbeld in the trials are Joanne Allen-Taylor, Fran Belibi, Quay Miller, Aaliyah Moore, Shyanne Sellers, Maddy Siegrist, Celeste Taylor, Alyssa Ustby, Payton Verhulst and Kayla Wells. Following training camp, six athletes will be selected to the team.
Westbeld was a participant at the 2018 USA U17 National Team trials and most recently a finalist for the 2021 USA Basketball U19 National Team.
The Ohio native produced a fantastic March for the Irish, where she averaged 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. She ultimately averaged 11.8 ppg on the season.
