March 27, 2000

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame head volleyball coach Debbie Brown’s 2000 recruiting class has been ranked ninth nationally in the May 2000 issue of Volleyball Magazine, one of the sport’s most well-known and oldest monthly publications.

The Irish class of 2004, which is comprised of middle blocker Kim Fletcher (St. Louis, Mo.), outside hitter Jessica Kinder (Fresno, Calif.), setter Kristen Kinder (Fresno, Calif.) and middle blocker Katherine Neff (St. Louis, Mo.), signed letters of intent in early February.

Two of the four recruits, Kristen Kinder and Fletcher, also were named to the publication’s “Fab 50” list, an annual list of the country’s high school seniors who, according to the magazine, have the most promise as collegiate players.

Kristen Kinder and Fletcher will join five other former Fab 50 selections next season including seniors Denise Boylan (Lisle, Ill.), Christi Girton (Muncie, Ind.) and Jo Jameyson (Alvin, Texas) and juniors Marcie Bomhack (Waukesha, Wis.) and Malinda Goralski (Missouri City, Texas.).

Other former Fab 50 selections to play for the Irish included 1999 BIG EAST Player of the Year Mary Leffers, first all-conference selection and current assistant coach Lindsay Treadwell, All-American Jamie Lee and first team all-district selections Angie Harris and Carey May.
