Nov. 20, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers, in conjunction with WIBC 1070-AM and The Salvation Army, announced Pacers player Troy Murphy will serve as Honorary Chair for the Salvation Army Radiothon on WIBC 1070-AM from Dec. 14-16.

“I am honored to be a part of this tradition and help raise awareness and funds for the programs The Salvation Army provides to our community,” said Pacers forward Troy Murphy. “I want our community to take action and support The Salvation Army through the radiothon on WIBC.”

“We are thrilled that Troy Murphy will be joining us for this year’s WIBC/Salvation Army Radiothon,” said Major Richard Amick, Divisional Commander, The Salvation Army Indiana. “This annual event has become a major part of our Christmas fundrasing effort. The addition of Troy is sure to bring even more success to an already amazing weekend.”

This marks the 13th year for the radiothon and more than $1 million has been raised for Salvation Army programs during that time. The money raised during the radiothon goes to support programs such as addictions service, domestic violence shelter, homelessness shelter, transitional housing, after school programs, senior citizen programs and general assistance to those in need.

During the radiothon, listeners will hear testimonials from those who have benefited from The Salvation Army programs as well as information from The Salvation Army leaders.

Listeners who call in and make a donation can register to win one of the hourly prize packages given away over the course of the radiothon.
