The University of Notre Dame’s 2003 Spring Opener, the only home outdoor meet of the season, has been cancelled. Unseasonably cold temperatures, including light snow, were falling at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, prompting the participating coaches to call the meet over concerns for student-athlete safety.

Notre Dame and Western Michigan were on site, while Central Michigan decided not to make the trip and pulled out of the meet on Friday afternoon.

The Irish return to action next weekend at the Tom Botts Invitational (Saturday, April 12) at the University of Missouri.
