NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Rising University of Notre Dame sophomore forward Colin Theisen has been named a 2017-18 American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar.

To earn the honor, players must achieved at least a 3.6 GPA in both semesters while playing in at least 40% of their team’s games. All told, 12 Big Ten players were named 2017-18 All-American Scholars. It marks the second year of the All-American Scholar awards program.

As a freshman, Theisen helped the Irish to a second consecutive trip to the Frozen Four, a NCAA Championship game appearance for the second time in program history and Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. He played in all 40 games and totaled six goals and 13 assists for 19 points. He earned the team’s Rookie of the Year award following the season.
