Dan Szilier broke two school and one pool record over the weekend at the Notre Dame Invitational in leading his Irish men’s team to the title.

Szilier swam a 2:01.02 in the 200-yard breastroke to shatter the school record of 2:03.01 (1991) and break the Rolfs Aquatic Center pool record of 2:02.28 set by Sean Trdesco of the University of Connecticut in December of 1996. Szilier also became only the second Notre Dame swimmer ever to swim an NCAA consideration time, as his 2:01.02 performance bested the NCAA consideration time by a little over one and a half seconds.

A day earlier, Szilier set the Notre Dame record in the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 56.88, beating Colin Cooley’s school-record time of 56.89 set in 1993.
