Tagovailoa-Amosa Named to Polynesian College Player of the Year Award Watch List

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — University of Notre Dame football graduate student defensive lineman Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa was named to the Polynesian College Player of the Year Award Watch List Thursday afternoon. The Award is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian ancestry that epitomizes great ability and integrity.

Tagovailoa-Amosa, a 2021 nominee to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and the Wuerffel Award Watch List, earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2020, after a season in which he totaled 17 tackles, 6.0 TFL (loss of 21 yards) and 2.5 sacks. He was named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-Independent First Team in 2020, and was a Piesman Trophy Finalist in 2019.

This past week, he was named one of seven team captains heading into the 2021 season. He was also named to the Nagurski Award and Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List.

The winner of the 2021 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award will be announced on December 14. Five finalists will be unveiled on November 30.
