Straub Earns Second All-American Honor to Close Irish Career

ATLANTA, Ga. — For the second consecutive-day at the 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, the Notre Dame women’s swimming team earned an All-American honor Friday at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Friday.

Graduate student Kelly Straub was set to compete in the final event of her Irish career with the 3-meter diving prelims on Friday morning. She earned the last spot in the finals with a 316.85 and was set to compete in the finals for the second straight night after placing 14th in the 1-meter on Thursday.

In the finals Straub finished with a 324.25, which placed 14th overall, and earned her Honorable Mention All-American honors. It was the second-straight All-America honors for Straub this season and the third of her career as she was HM All-American in 2021 in the 3-meter as well.

Senior Luciana Thomas will close the Irish out at the NCAA Championships on the final day of competition on Saturday. She is slated to swim in the 200 butterfly prelims and she enters the championships with the 24th-fastest time in the field.
