Start Time For Sunday's ND-Cincinnati Volleyball Match Moved To 12:30 p.m. To Accommodate ESPNU

Oct. 24, 2005

This Sunday’s matchup in the Joyce Center between two of the top women’s volleyball teams in the BIG EAST Conference – the seventh-ranked University of Notre Dame (18-1, 8-0) and the University of Cincinnati (15-7, 6-2) – has been changed to a 12:30 p.m. (EST) start. The match – to be played on the first day that the South Bend area will again be on the same time as the east coast – will begin 90 minutes earlier than previously scheduled in order to accommodate ESPNU, which will televise the match live. It will be the first volleyball match in the Joyce Center ever televised live.

The Irish and Bearcats will meet for the first time since 2002 and the fourth time overall. Notre Dame currently boasts an 11-match winning streak overall and has won each of the three previous contests against Cincinnati.

Sunday will be the second of at least three Irish volleyball matches that will be televised this season. Notre Dame upset then-#11 Texas in five games on Sept. 3 in the Joyce Center in a match shown by College Sports Television. The regular-season finale between the Irish and Tennessee, slated for Nov. 26 in the Joyce Center, will be shown by Comcast Sports Net. CSTV also will air the final of the BIG EAST Championship, to be played Nov. 20 in the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.
