Sprinters Compete During First Day Of Florida Relays

March 28, 2003

A group of sprinters from the University of Notre Dame women’s track and field team began competition at the Florida Relays on Friday afternoon. In the non-team scoring meet, sophomore Tiffany Gunn finished 15th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.07) and the 4×200-meter relay team of Tameisha King, Kristen Dodd, Kymia Love and Ayesha Boyd took sixth place in section one (1:36.53).

Gunn’s 400-meter hurdle effort is just the second event of the season for Notre Dame’s top distance hurdler. She ran 1:01.13 in last weekend’s Baldy Castillo meet at Arizona State.

The 4×200-meter relay is an unusual event, which is not run at the BIG EAST Championship. It does give the four Irish runners a warm up for Saturday’s 4×100 and 4×400 competition.

Notre Dame’s distance runners are also in action late Friday at the Stanford Invitational. Those results will be available very late Friday night and will included in Sunday’s recap of the Notre Dame track and field team in action at Western Michigan, in Florida and at Stanford.
