SOPHOMORE SEASON (2022)

  • Began the season as Notre Dame’s starting quarterback before an injury forced him to miss 10 of 13 games. Finished the season going 46-for-83 with 652 yards passing and three touchdowns. Ran for 123 yards and four touchdowns in his three games.
  • OHIO STATE (9/3): Became the first Chinese-American to start at quarterback at a Power 5 level program. 10 completions on 18 attempts for 177 yards, all career bests. First pass in his first start went to Lorenzo Styles for 54 yards, one yard short of his career best
  •  MARSHALL (9/10): Opened the game with three-straight completions. Completed his first pass attempt in back-to-back games. Completed a career-best 18 passes in 32 attempts for another career-mark of 201 yards. Ran 13 times for 44 yards and scored a career-best two times. Converted a two-point conversion, the first for Notre Dame since Nov. 6, 2021. Suffered an injury which held him out for the next 10 games
  • South Carolina – TaxSlayer Gator Bowl (12/30): Returned from injury for the bowl game against South Carolina, 16 weeks following his injury. Finished with a career-best 274 yards passing on 18 completions and three touchdowns. Added two scores on the ground, rushing for 61 yards on 12 carries and two more touchdowns. Connected with Logan Diggs for a 75-yard touchdown, marking the second-longest touchdown pass in Notre Dame bowl history and was the second-longest play from scrimmage by the Irish this season. Delivered a game-winning touchdown drive in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, finding Mitchell Evans for the game-winning touchdown with 1:38 remaining in the game. Named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2021)

  • Featured in 10 games for the Irish this season, including appearances in eight of the last nine contests; Displayed dual-threat skills, finishing the season with six TDs, three through the air and three on the ground, and 634 total yards, 336 rushing and 298 passing; Completed 21-of-35 passes (60.0%) and threw three interceptions; Ran 46 times on the season, averaging 7.3 yards per carry and 33.6 yards per game on the ground
  • TOLEDO (9/11): Threw for a total of 78 yards on 3-of-3 passing and tallied his first career touchdown, a 55-yard touchdown pass to Chris Tyree, in his Notre Dame debut; Ran for 68 yards on seven carries against the Rockets, including a 26-yard rush on his first career snap
  • PURDUE (9/18): Rushed for 24 yards on three carries, including a 20-yard carry in the second quarter
  • CINCINNATI (10/2): Rushed four times, gaining eight total yards
  • VIRGINIA TECH (10/9): Threw for a total of 113 yards, including a career-long 46-yard strike to Kevin Austin; Recorded his first career rushing touchdown with a three-yard run, becoming the first true freshman quarterback to record a rushing touchdown since 2015; Became the first true freshman quarterback to have a passing and rushing touchdown in the same game in Notre Dame history; finished with 12 carries for 67 yards on the ground for a game total of 180 yards and two scores
  • SOUTHERN CAL (10/23): Went 2-of-2 in the air for 24 yards, and rushed for 11 yards on three carries in the win over the Trojans.
  • NORTH CAROLINA (10/30): Completed each of his two passes for 17 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter; Notched four carries for 16 yards
  • NAVY (11/6): Completed one pass for 11 yards and rushed twice to gain nine yards in home victory
  • VIRGINIA (11/13): Completed each of his three pass attempts for 42 yards, including a 22-yard strike to Michael Mayer in the fourth quarter; rushed three times for 10 yards
  • GEORGIA TECH (11/20): Had a career-best 68-yard run in the third quarter, the second-longest run by an Irish player this season; finished with a game-high 67 yards on five carries; Completed three of six pass attempts for 17 yards
  • STANFORD (11/27): Ran three times for 56 yards, including a 33-yard carry for a touchdown
