Garrity Reaches 1,000-Point Plateau
NOTRE DAME, Ind – Notre Dame’s Pat Garrity scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Fighting Irish (5-3) past visiting Nicholls State (3-6) 84-75 Monday night at the Joyce Center.
The 19 points by Garrity put his career-point total over 1,000.
Garrity finished with with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting (7-for-7 from the free-throw line), seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Admore White, David Lalazarian and Keith Friel also scored in double digits for the Fighting Irish.
Notre Dame held a 40-31 advantage at halftime, but Nicholls State erased that lead and pulled even 46-46 with 15:03 left to play in the half on Keith Richard’s layup.
Nicholls State took its first lead of the half two minutes later when Taurus Howard found Banks in deep for a layin and a 50-48 lead. Nicholls State, however, was unable to pull away and Notre Dame began a run of its own.
Matt Gotsch’s putback with 8:35 left to play gave the Irish the lead once again (58-56) and Garrity’s layup and free-throw conversion with just over four minutes to play put Notre Dame ahead for good.
Notre Dame’s next faces Loyola (Chi.) December 30 at Loyola.
