Softball's Jarrah Myers, Jennifer Sharron Earn All-Tournament Honors

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame sophomore catcher Jarrah Myers (Carbondale, Kan.) and junior pitcher Jennifer Sharron (Agoura Hills, Calif.) have been named to the 10-member Morning News Invitational All-Tournament softball team. Myers and Sharron led the Irish, 7-4 overall, to a 3-3 record at the tournament which was held February 25-27 at the University of Arkansas.

Myers hit .316 (6-for-19) in the team’s six tournament games, scoring three runs, driving in four runs and belting her first home run of the year in the team’s 6-1 win over Virginia.

Sharron, meanwhile, went 1-1 on the mound in three appearances picking up 12 strikeouts in nine innings in the team’s 10-inning loss to Missouri Friday and posting a two-hit shutout against Virginia Sunday. Sharron also was 5-for-14 (.357) at the plate with an RBI against Missouri and a double versus Arkansas.

Tournament champion Arkansas, which went 5-1 overall, had four members on the team including most valuable player Jennifer Bottoms. Missouri placed three players on the team, while fourth place Virginia had one.
