Senior Hockey Standout Dan Carlson Named To CCHA's All-Academic Team

Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame senior left wing Dan Carlson (Sr., Edina, Minn.) has been selected to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s All-Academic Team for the 2000-01 season.

Carlson is one of eight players selected to the team which features six seniors and two juniors. Fellow Notre Dame forward, David Inman (Jr., Toronto, Ont.) was an honorable mention selection for the All-Academic Team.

This marks the sixth consecutive season that the Irish have had at least one player named to the All-Academic Team.

Carlson, who is also a candidate for Academic All-American honors this season, owns a 3.49 grade point average with a double major in finance and computer applications. One of Notre Dame’s alternate captains this season, Carlson has been named to the Dean’s List in five consecutive semesters.

On the ice, the 5-10, 180-pound forward finished the season as Notre Dame’s leading scorer with 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points. For his career, Carlson played in more games than any other Notre Dame hockey player (158) missing just two games when he participated in the World Junior Championships as a member of the U.S. Junior National Team.

Carlson closed out his career ranked 20th on Notre Dame’s all-time scoring list with 52 career goals and 80 assists for 132 points. He is also fourth all-time with six shorthanded goals, 13th in power play goals (19) and tied for eight with nine game winning goals.

Inman is a finance major in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and has a 3.57 grade point average. He had 11 goals and six assists for 17 points in 37 games. He led the Irish with five power play goals.

Two other Irish players, seniors Ryan Dolder (Hutchinson, Minn.) and Matt Van Arkel (Richton Park, Ill.) were among a group of 44 other players who received special mention for being nominated for the team.

The team is selected by the CCHA’s faculty representatives. To be eligible for consideration, a player must have completed at least one academic year and have a 3.00 grade point on a 4.00 scale.
