Sam Brown Joins Irish Volleyball For 2010 Season

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Sam Brown recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic and academic career at the University of Notre Dame. The 6-3 middle blocker is slated to be a part of the Irish volleyball program beginning in the fall of 2010.

“We’re really looking forward to having Sam become a part of our program,” Irish head coach Debbie Brown said. “She is an outstanding athlete with an amazing vertical jump. Sam is eager to learn more about the game to become an impact player for our program.”

Brown played volleyball, basketball and ran track during her prep career at St. Pius X High School. The Albuquerque, N.M., native led the state in hitting pct. as a junior (.592) while playing in the North/South All-Star contest. She guided her squad to three conference titles, a regional championship and was a three-time all-conference performer. Brown was twice named all-city and all-state.

St. Pius X finished second in the volleyball state tournament during Brown’s junior and senior campaigns.

The daughter of Carol and Greg Brown was a member of the National Honor Society and the Saint Sebastian Club.
