#14 Tara Carone Softball Roster

AS A JUNIOR (2016): Officially joined the active Notre Dame softball roster in April, providing vital depth at the catcher position and serving as the main Irish bullpen catcher.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Three-year softball letterwinner at McDowell High School … played for four District 10 Quad-A championship squads and was a three–time scholar-athlete award recipient during high school career … named team most valuable player while earning all-district first team and all-state second team recognition as a senior, helping guide McDowell to a District 10 Quad-A championship … named 2013 region player of the year while establishing a McDowell single-season record for putouts behind the plate … claimed the varsity Golden Glove award as a junior as a member of the District 10 Quad-A champion Trojans … McDowell reached the quarterfinals of the state softball tournament during sophomore campaign … earned additional letters in both basketball and cross country … competed with the Erie Frost on the club circuit, qualifying for nationals in both 2011 and 2012 … National Honor Society president, Honors College vice president and Key Club editor … graduated as the McDowell High School Valedictorian and was the recipient of a Notre Dame Undergraduate Research Opportunity (UROP) grant … involved with the Student Union Board as a dorm representative for Pasquerilla East, and is a co-founder of the Notre Dame club softball team … daughter of John (’85) and Robin Carone … has one brother, Vinny … has one sister, Lyndsey … father, John, was a student manager for the Notre Dame baseball team … brother, Vinny, is a baseball catcher at Allegheny College … enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters as a psychology major.
