Pierson Stays In Home State With ECHL Deal

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – One year after returning to his home state to conclude his collegiate career, University of Notre Dame graduate center Jackson Pierson has signed his first professional contract with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL, the club announced Monday night.

“Coming to Notre Dame has been a dream come true,” Pierson said of the 2022-23 season. “I can’t thank the coaching staff and my teammates enough for a great season and memories that will last a lifetime.”

Pierson appeared in 31 games for the Irish this season, tallying a goal and eight assists during his time at Notre Dame before being sidelined with injury late in the regular season. In 146 games played between his time at the University of New Hampshire and Notre Dame, he totaled 97 points off 32 goals and 65 assists.

Pierson is expected to report to the Komets at the end of the week.

“I’m excited to get going in Fort Wayne,” Pierson ended.
