April 19, 2012

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Head coach Deanna Gumpf recently announced that New Jersey softball standout Carly Piccinich has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame beginning in the fall of 2012.

“We are so excited to add Carly to our class of 2012,” Gumpf said. “She is a phenomenal person and student-athlete. Carly will bring depth to our middle infield and is a fierce offensive weapon from the left side of the plate.

“Carly continues to get better and better because of her determination and work ethic that is second to none. She has always set high expectations for herself on and off the field, and we look forward to seeing her bring that mindset to the Notre Dame program.”

Piccinich is the latest installment of the incoming Irish recruiting class which also includes Casey Africano (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Micaela Arizmendi (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Allison Rhodes (Kirkland, Wash.) and Megan Sorlie (Wichita, Kan.).
